GARDENING TIPS 

1:  Want to remember the name of unusual plants – buy a permanent marker and  write the name of the plant on a flat stone and place it close to the plant.  

2:  Have some herbs you want to dry?  Put a sheet of newspaper on the dashboard of your car, roll up the windows and lay the herbs in a single layer.  You will be amazed how well these herbs dry using this easy method and there is an added bones – no need to invest in an air freshner, as this will leave you car smelling like the herbs you dried. 

3:  Have bird houses and feeders in your garden.  Remember to feed the birds on a regular basis and ensure that they have plenty of water.  Along with bird seed, birds like fruit, nuts and bread crumbs. 

4:  Ensure that your do not overwater your indoor plants as this will encourage root rot.  Only water when the soil in the pot is dry to the touch. 

5:  Overwatering your lawn causes the roots to remain shallow and the slightest drought or lack of water will cause your lawn to turn brown.  Lawns should be watered sparingly to give the roots a chance to push deep into the soil in search of water.  That way, when you go on vacation or water restrictions come into play, your lawn has a much greater chance of remaining green and healthy.

Sun catchers and Feng Shui 

Ancient tradition states that suncatchers are blessed with the energy from the appropriate life-force.  Everything has energy or chi.  Stagnant energy can cause chaos and problems in your life, home or office.  We need to moved the energy around and wind chimes and sun catchers strategically placed in corners, windows and above doors do just that.   They are great gifts especially for house-warming, for a new baby or child’s room or for someone who is recovering from an illness.

TIPS – SWIMMING POOL LANDSCAPING 

1: If you want shade but don’t want to be cleaning leaves out of your pool,  choose evergreen trees and shrubs as these tend to drop much less leaves.

 2:  We all love flowering and fragrant shrubs and favor putting them around any entertaining area.   We suggest that as tempting as it is to have these planted beside your pool area, they tend to attract too many bees and bugs. 

 3: The best way to have plants decorating your pool area is to put them in planters and distribute them throughtout  the area.  You can change them often, mix and match and rotate them according to the season.
